Agreement

This Privacy Policy explains the practices of Jigsaw Learning, Inc. regarding the collection, use, disclosure, and protection of personal information that is collected through any courses offered and other linked and related sites (the “Site”) for the use of its customers, vendors, students, and other Site users (“Users”) for the purposes of online professional learning (the “Service”) Capitalized terms that are not defined in this Privacy Policy have the meaning given them in our Jigsaw Learning Terms & Conditions for Access to Online Professional Learning Series. Please be sure to read this entire Privacy Policy before using or submitting information with Jigsaw Learning.

In addition to reviewing our Privacy Policy, you should also read the Jigsaw Learning Terms & Conditions for Access to Online Professional Learning Series. Your access to this Site  and  use of the Jigsaw Learning Service constitutes your agreement to the Jigsaw Learning Terms & Conditions for Access to Online Professional Learning Series and to this Privacy Policy.

Users

The term “you” or “your” refers to you whether you are a “Visitor” (which means that you simply browse the Site and Service), or a “User” of the Service. 

A “User” as used in this Policy may be any person choosing to access this Site and use this Service for their personal, non-commercial use.  

How Jigsaw Learning Collects Information

We collect personal information from Users.

First and foremost, you should know that Jigsaw Learning does not (and will not) sell or rent personal information to any third-party for any purpose - including for advertising or marketing purposes. Third-party advertising is not permitted in areas where users are required to log in and personal information collected never used for targeted advertising (by us or third-parties). Furthermore, we do not share personal information with any third-parties except in the limited circumstances described in this Privacy Policy.

Information About Users

We ask for certain information when a User registers for the Service or corresponds with us online, which may include, but is not limited to, first and last name, email address, user name and password, and any additional personal information you voluntarily provide in your profile, which could include, but is not limited to, your school name and location, what grade level you teach, and your position within the school (collectively, “Data”). We may also collect Data if the User sends us a message or responds to emails and surveys. Once the User has an account, we collect content and information provided by the User through the use of the Service, which could include class rosters, contact information, photos, images, video and any other content the User posts to the Service. We use this information to operate, maintain and provide the features and functionality of the Service, to analyze and improve our Service offerings and functionality, and to communicate with our Users.

Information Collected From Third Party Services And Social Media Sites

We may collect information about you from third party services that you connect to our Service. For example, if you use a single-sign on like Google Apps for Education to access your Jigsaw Learning account, we may receive certain information from that third party application. We may also receive information about you if you interact with us through various social media, for example, by following us on Twitter or liking us on Facebook. The data we receive is dependent upon your privacy settings with the social network. You should always review, and if necessary, adjust your privacy settings on third-party websites and services before linking or connecting them to the Service.

Information Collected Through Technology

Like most websites and online services, Jigsaw Learning automatically collects certain types of usage information when Users visit our website or use our Service. This information is typically collected through cookies, log files, web beacons, and similar tracking technology (collectively, “Cookies”). These Cookies collect information about how you use the Service (e.g. the pages you view, the links you click, and other actions you take on the Service), information about your browser and online usage patterns (e.g. Internet Protocol (“IP”) address, browser type, browser language, referring/exit pages and URLs, pages viewed, whether you opened an email, links clicked), and information about the device(s) you use to access the Service (e.g. mobile device identifier, mobile carrier, device type, model and manufacturer, mobile device operating system brand and model, and, depending on your mobile device settings, your geographical location data). Jigsaw Learning may also collect analytics data, or use third-party analytics tools, to help us measure traffic and usage trends for the Service. Although Jigsaw Learning does our best to honor the privacy preferences of our visitors, we are not able to respond to Do Not Track signals from your browser at this time.

Cookies allow us to provide you with a better User experience. For example, we use or may use the data collected through cookies to

  1. remember information so that you will not have to re-enter it during your visit or the next time you visit the site, and 

  2. provide custom, personalized content and information. 

Cookies also allow us to analyze, improve and protect our Service and our Users. For example, we may also use Cookies to

  1.  provide and monitor the effectiveness of our Service;

Third Party Tracking and Online Advertising 

We may permit third party online advertising networks to collect information from visitors to https://www.jigsawlearning.ca/ to provide customized content, advertising and commercial messaging to you from time to time on other websites or services; (such as through the google single sign on). Typically, the information is collected through cookies or similar tracking technologies. You may be able to set your browser to reject cookies or other tracking technology by actively managing the settings on your browser.

Please note that although we may permit third party advertising partners to collect information on our Jigsaw Learning website for the purpose of sending targeted advertisements, we do not allow third party advertising networks to collect information about Users who are logged into our Service.

Use and Sharing of Your Information

Jigsaw Learning shares data within the Service as needed to perform the Service. For example, data may be shared with others who have been authorized to access the content for an educational purpose. Jigsaw Learning only shares personal information with third parties in limited circumstances, described below. We will never share or sell Data with third parties for marketing purposes.

Jigsaw Learning uses and shares personal information in the following ways:

  1. comply with the law or a judicial proceeding, court order, or legal process served on us;

  2. to comply with or the lawful request of law enforcement; 

  3.  to enforce or apply our Jigsaw Learning Terms & Conditions for Access to Online Professional Learning Series or other agreements or to protect the security or integrity of our Service; and/or 

  4. to exercise or protect the rights, property, or safety of Jigsaw Learning, our employees, our Users, or others.

Control, Access and Deletion of Personal Information

Jigsaw Learning controls and provides access to information for its Users only. Jigsaw Learning retains personal information, including Jigsaw Learning content, for as long as the User account is covered by an active agreement as described in our Jigsaw Learning Terms & Conditions for Access to Online Professional Learning Series, or until we receive a request to delete such information.

For Manual Sign On: Users may access, update or correct personal information at any time by logging into their account. 

For Single Sign On: Users may access, update or correct personal information at any time by logging into their Google account. 

Jigsaw Learning maintains this information only for the benefit of the User. When a Jigsaw Learning User profile is no longer in active use, the profile will be deleted, including the personal information and Content associated with such accounts. We may maintain aggregate or de-identified data in a form that does not reasonably identify a particular individual, for our internal use or analytic purposes.

Account/Profile Deletion

Jigsaw Learning hopes you love using the Service now and always. However, if for some reason a User ever wants to delete your account, it can be done at any time by contacting us at [email protected] from the email used to create the account. 

When an account or profile is deleted, Jigsaw Learning deletes all profile information and any other content provided in the account/profile (such as your name, username, password, email address, and profile photos) and information collected through the mobile permissions that were granted. Information shared by the User with others, others have shared about the User, or content other the User may have copied and stored, is not part of the account and may not be deleted when the account is deleted.

Jigsaw Learning aims to maintain our Services in a manner that protects information from accidental or malicious destruction. Because of this, even after a User updates or deletes personal information provided to the Service, personal information may be retained in our backup files and archives for a reasonable period of time as necessary for our legitimate business interests, such as fraud detection and prevention and enhancing safety. For example, if Jigsaw Learning suspends an account for fraud or safety reasons, Jigsaw Learning may retain certain information from that account to prevent that user from opening a new account in the future. Also, Jigsaw Learning may retain and use personal information to the extent necessary to comply with Jigsaw Learning’s legal obligations.

Children’s Privacy

Jigsaw Learning does not knowingly collect personal information from any children, families, or guardians.  All information collected in the system is entered at the discretion of individual users. 

We endeavor to provide privacy protection that is consistent with Canada’s private sector privacy laws, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (“PIPEDA”). For any questions regarding how we comply with PIPEDA, please contact us at [email protected].

In addition to the actions described above, Jigsaw Learning may facilitate the sharing of Data with third parties through the Service, though only when instructed and authorized to do so on behalf of the User. Jigsaw Learning will use personal information to provide the Jigsaw Learning Service and permit data sharing among Users authorized to view and access the Data. Except for the circumstances noted above, Jigsaw Learning shares Data only for purposes of providing the educational service to and at the direction of Users. Our Security and Data Storage Practices

Jigsaw Learning cares about the security of your personal information and uses commercially reasonable physical, administrative and technological safeguards to preserve the integrity and security of all information we collect and that we share with our service providers. Jigsaw Learning employees and contractors are bound to uphold the provisions in this Privacy Policy, and violators will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination and further legal action. Jigsaw Learning maintains physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that are designed to protect our Users’ personal information. Jigsaw Learning uses internet security best practices to transfer Personal Information. Users can help protect against unauthorized access to their accounts by limiting access to computers and browsers by signing off after accessing their account.

By using Jigsaw Learning’s Service, Users consent to the transfer of personal information to Canada in accordance with this Privacy Policy. Users understand that personal information will be subject to the laws of Canada, which may be different from those of your country of residence.

Jigsaw Learning stores and processes personal information in full compliance with the Alberta FOIP Act and the Canada Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

Communications

As part of our Service, Jigsaw Learning may use personal information to communicate with Users about their accounts or transactions with us, or send information about Service updates, newsletters, or promotional materials. Users acknowledge that by using the Service, Jigsaw Learning and our trusted third party business partners working on our behalf may send you email or engage in other communications with you. Users can unsubscribe from these emails by clicking on the “unsubscribe” button within the body of the email. Please note that you are not permitted to unsubscribe or opt-out of non-promotional messages regarding your account, such as account verification, changes or updates to features of the Service, or technical or security notices.

When Users provide an email address to invite a friend or colleague or other contact to join the Service, Jigsaw Learning will use this information to send the invitation, and we send 1-2 reminder emails if a response is not received. From time to time, Jigsaw Learning may also send these individuals email communications letting them know more about Jigsaw Learning and our Service. Recipients may unsubscribe from these emails by clicking on the “unsubscribe” button within the body of the email at any time or by contacting us at [email protected].

Where the Service provides the opportunity for a User to enter an email address that is not associated with an account in order to send email communications, the User is responsible for the communication and the details within it.

Links to Other Websites

The Jigsaw Learning Service and email communications may contain links to other websites or services. Any personal information the User provides on the linked pages is provided directly to that third party and is subject to that third party’s privacy policy. Except as described above, Jigsaw Learning is not responsible for the content or privacy and security practices and policies of websites to which Jigsaw Learning links. Links from the Jigsaw Learning Service to third parties or to other sites are provided for User convenience. Jigsaw Learning encourages Users to learn about privacy and security practices and policies  of third parties before providing personal information.


Processor and Controller

Jigsaw Learning processes personal information both as a Processor and as a Controller.

When Users enter information directly into our Service, Jigsaw Learning will generally be the Controller for the data. However, in certain circumstances, where requested by the User, Jigsaw Learning will be the Processor and will only correct/delete records per the User’s specific instructions and will request that Users make any requests for access, correction or deletion of personal information through the educational institution. Jigsaw Learning will respond to such requests when received in writing or by email  at [email protected].

Service Development

The Jigsaw Learning Service is under continuous development and testing. The Jigsaw Learning Service may contain bugs and other errors that could adversely affect the use or performance of the Jigsaw Learning Service. Issues or errors of this nature may impact our ability to comply with this privacy policy.

Changes to Privacy Policy

Because we continue to develop the Jigsaw Learning Service and take advantage of technologies to improve the services we provide, policies will change over time. We will note the effective date of the policy at the bottom of this page, and Users should review this page periodically for any changes. If Jigsaw Learning makes any material changes in the way personal information is used, Jigsaw Learning will attempt to notify Users by sending an email to the registered email address and posting a notice on our website homepage and login page. It is the User’s responsibility to check for updates to the Privacy Policy and to delete their account if they do not agree to such changes, as any such update shall be effective even if no notice of such update is received. Continued access and use of the Jigsaw Learning Service constitutes acceptance of any changes or revisions to our Privacy Policy.

Privacy Policy Changes with Respect to Student Data

Jigsaw Learning will use its best efforts to provide at least 30 days notice of a Privacy Policy change that may involve collecting, using, storing, or sharing Data in a materially different way than was disclosed in our previous Privacy Policy, so that Users have sufficient time to evaluate the change in practice. If Users do not choose to accept the changes, they may opt-out by deleting their account before the changes take effect. Previous versions of this Privacy Policy may be requested by contacting [email protected].
